Compliance Operations Analyst (Privacy), Compliance and Business Ethics

Job Description

Under the direction of the Director & Chief Privacy Officer, the Compliance Operations Analyst will assist with the coordination and monitoring of privacy activities for all UC Health entities. The Compliance Operations Analyst will participate in workforce education, auditing and monitoring, and will provide assistance for all entities with compliance with Compliance and Business Ethics Department policies and procedures, specifically HIPAA and other privacy laws and regulations.


Electronic Systems Management and Intake of Privacy Complaints. Receive patient and employee complaints from several sources and maintain a database to track potential and/or actual violations of privacy and/or HIPAA or policy and reporting obligations. Assist with reporting such violations within the appropriate timeframes. Assist with privacy investigations, risk assessment, and mitigation. Assist with the preparation of data, written reports, and meeting minutes. Cooperate with Federal and State regulators and/or other entities in any privacy reviews or investigations. Legal and Regulatory Compliance Knowledge: Demonstrate a working knowledge of HIPAA and other laws and regulations that affect healthcare privacy. Provide institutional support with knowledge of Privacy and Compliance and Business Ethics policies, procedures and training requirements. Work with Site Compliance Coordinators and/or sites as needed to improve and/or maintain compliance. Conduct On-Site Audits - 15% Assist with the development of the annual work plan, audit schedule, and identification of areas to be audited based on program data. Collect data through provider and facility self-audits. Collect and maintain data from audits to ensure loop closure. Manage data and produce reports identifying deficiencies. Assist in developing and implementing compliance auditing and monitoring strategies. Multi-Departmental Privacy Program Coordination: Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment between departmental compliance programs including policies, practices, investigations, and act as a liaison with other departments. Privacy Program Development and Improvement: Work with the Chief Privacy Officer to develop improvement plans and facilitate measures to improve privacy compliance. Education and Training: Create and maintain new education tools for employees across all entities. Develop and maintain department standard operating procedures. Provide training support for all training modalities: computer based training, new employee orientation, new leader orientation and in-service training. Assist in writing education and communication pieces on behalf of the department. Research privacy topics, as appropriate. Monitoring Privacy Reporting Methods: Assist with monitoring department complaint methods and electronic systems.


Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Health Care Related | Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance, preferred | Minimum Required: 1 - 2 Years equivalent experience
