HR Specialist - Lindner Center of HOPE

Job Description

Under the direction of the designated supervisor, the Human Resource Specialist will oversee and perform administrative, operational, and project-based tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organizations human resource department. The Human Resource Specialist will regularly interact with internal and external constituents to obtain or relay human resource information.


  • May interact with patients and/or families, some in crisis. Makes decisions using independent judgment. Has access to confidential information on a regular basis and must handle appropriately.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation in accordance with records retention schedule. Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management. Communicate policy changes to employees and update documents on intranet.
  • Process employee data record changes in human resources information system (HRIS).
  • May assist with payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, etc.
  • Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
  • Conducts and assists with new hire orientation and materials. Assists employees with navigation of systems, and onboarding process for hiring, benefits and payroll processes, etc.
  • Maintains the master contract schedule and original contract documents. Advises management regarding contract expiration/renewal timing, and tracks compliance.
  • Oversees, coordinates, and communicates special events such as benefit enrollment, organizational wide meetings, employee engagement, recognition, and professional development activities, etc.
  • Coordinates the continuing education and tuition assistance reimbursement processes for review and approval by HR Director. Ensures paperwork is completed accurately for reimbursement.
  • Maintain, and track HR compliance items, licensure, and other data to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Communicate expiration and renewal timing of compliance data to management and employees.
  • Oversee and maintain student/practicum and volunteer programs, track, and update contracts/documents, ensure compliance.
  • Assists with tracking of various and miscellaneous HR functions such as performance reviews, evaluations, approved driver list, etc.
  • Assists with recruitment process with various tasks related to communication with candidates, phone screens, setting up interviews, etc.

Required Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years Human Resources experience.
  • Prior healthcare/hospital experience in human resources.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-pace, high work-volume and changing environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and set priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are mandatory.
  • Has or willing to become a notary.
  • Ability to enthusiastically follow and model the LCOH mission, vision, and values.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position are consistent with those performed in a normal office environment, including occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling, and sufficient manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment and ability to use a computer.
