IT Database Analyst, IS&T

Job Description

The Data Base Analyst works closely with clients to define their needs and uses various software tools to create the database tables and datamarts.

Responsibilities

Development of Data Marts/Warehousing/Scripts - Works with customers and other IS&T departments to define tables to meet needs. Uses software tools to extract, load, and transform data for tables. Updates tables in a timely manner to meet customer needs. Works with users to automate schedule report printing. Monitors automated report printing and re-prints reports as needed in a timely manner. Maintenance, Monitoring and Problem Resolution - Writes scripts to automate database backups and performs periodic testing of database recoveries from backups. Applies knowledge of resources, constraints and organizational values in decision making process. Upgrades to current stable versions on all servers and systems to minimize problems and in accordance with vendor specifications. Planning - Works extensively with department representatives to define and understand their database and/or data mart needs. Works with IS&T staff, department representatives and vendors as necessary to provide technical expertise and assistance in installation, upgrade, and maintenance of new data base systems on Alliance servers. Works with IS&T staff to implement databases and migrations to new version levels. System Definition and Integration - Designs and configures database systems based on collected specifications. Works with vendors to define specifications. Works with IS&T staff to coordinate deployment. Coordination of IS&T activities - Encourages and displays actions that result in high client satisfaction. Good communication skills and ability to work in a changing environment. Provides effective coordination with vendors, consultants, users, and IS&T staff. Works well in a team environment. Ensures that change management procedures are followed. Provides input to project charters. Provides task level detail for project plans. Provides accurate and timely individual status reports and timesheets. Monitors, updates, and enters new tasks in TSD. Enters PTO information in THA payroll application. Updates the team calendar in a timely manner. Documentation - Appropriately documents application information, backup and disaster recovery procedures, and database structures. Provides necessary documentation for network, installations, configurations, procedures, and other related network functions. Identifies data sources and constructs data diagrams, data flow diagrams and documents processes.

Qualifications

Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree in related field or an combination of education and required. | None Required | 5 or more years of experience with database systems preferred.
