Provide support services to patients receiving Nuclear Medicine tests and treatments and to technical/physician staff performing and interpreting these tests and treatments.

Responsibilities

- Coordinates functions at the main desk including patient registration, appointment scheduling, coordination of examinations departmentally and interdepartmentally, and organization and maintenance of supplies.

- Performs audits on patient records/registrations to ensure completeness for insurance billing and compliance.

- Provides medical transcription for patient records and correspondence.

- Identifies operational problems and recommends changes to the department manager.

- Provides staff/physician support by copying and faxing records and documents. Schedules patients for tests and treatments.

- Participates in and assists with other support services.

Description -

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Answers telephone and either responds to inquiry or directs caller to appropriate staff. Assists clinicians in responding to their phone messages from patients and families, by handling their questions and requests whenever possible.
  2. Monitors outpatient clinician schedules to provide smooth operation of the outpatient department and assist clinicians to stay on schedule.
  3. Assists clinicians with administrative tasks such as, correspondence (i.e. completion of insurance, disability, and return to work forms) printing information from the internet (i.e. drug side effects, referral sources), printing information from the electronic medical record. Coordinates administrative details for groups.
  4. Calls patients and pharmacies for prescription refills. Coordinates patient requests regarding appointment inquiries and release of information.
  5. Makes appropriate patient and/or clinician updates in the electronic medical record.
  6. Reviews paperwork/documentation to insure proper completion and signatures.
  7. Provides excellent service to all staff, patients and visitors.
  8. Functions as a back-up for Registration and Outpatient Check-in and Check-out staff.
  9. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications -

Position Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma required
  2. At least 2 years of experience in doctor' office or health care administrative position required. Experience working in mental health setting preferred.
  3. Strong customer service skills and a high degree of confidentiality are required.
  4. Must have strong computer skills including Excel and Word.
  5. Receptionist skills involving answering the telephone, greeting patients/visitors, and making appointments are required.
  6. Ability to enthusiastically follow and model the Lindner Center of HOPE mission, vision and values.


Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position are consistent with those performed in a normal office environment, including occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling, and sufficient manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment and ability to use a computer.
