The Patient Accounting Representative bills claims electronically, check for unpaid claim status, post cash, pursue self pay cash collections, scan documents, request medical records and/or provide customer service.


Revenue Cycle Functions - Day to day work, such as, following up on denials, working registration edits, working with other Departments, meeting individual goals, etc. Communicates COB with patients for registration denials. C ommunicates directly with payers to follow up on outstanding claims/records/ROI via fax, phone, portals. Demonstrates knowledge of primary WQs (Charge Review, Claim Edit). Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness by making recommendations and communicating trends/issues/delays to management. Understands and maintains compliance with HIPAA guidelines when handling patient information. Outside registrations. Manual Change Entry. RevLink mail sorting. Accept daily claim run, paper claims, attachments. Charge Review Missing Guarantor research and completion. Maintains productivity standards.

Maintains 100% or greater on department productivity scoring and takes responsibility for individual productivity standards. Offers suggestions to improve individual and team productivity.

Meeting Department quality standards, effective follow through and having positive impact on Department metrics. Participates in continued quality improvement efforts on an ongoing basis, establishing goals with supervisors and tracking progress. Offers suggestions to improve individual and team productivity. Maintains a quality review score of 90% or greater on department quality reviews.

Self-Development- Completing e-learnings, furthering education, pursuing certifications). Attends one or more UC Health training and development courses per year.


Minimum Required: 3 months to 2 years of m edical office and/or Revenue Cycle and/or Epic Revenue Application experience required.

Preferred: 1 - 2 years of relevant experience in Revenue Cycle and/or Epic Revenue Cycle applications

Education: High school diploma or GED.

Experience: 2-5 years' experience in collections or medical collections.
