Responsibilities

Provide leadership, knowledge and education; instill the hospital core values, vision, and mission statement, technical expertise. Provide a sound quality assurance program for the Echo Lab, educational opportunities including research, new technology and new policies.

General:

Engages in population appropriate communication.

Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.

Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.

Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.

Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.

Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.

Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.

Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.

Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.

Clinical:

Demonstrated expertise and serve as an expert role model in echo graphic procedures. Conduct peer review and quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy of testing.

Facilitates one-on-one training of newly hired Echo technologists, Cardiology Fellows, other department physicians, and student technologists

Review all echo modalities performed by the echo technologists, ensuring studies are complete and accurate and technical skills meet high quality standards, quality check for physician compliance of ICAEL standards and hospital policies.

Work closely with and communicate regularly with CVS director and medical director. Manage and lead through example and ongoing managerial education.

QA quality assurance Implementation, data mining and correlation for QA results for re-accreditation by IAC Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.

Co-lead monthly Echo/Vascular staff meetings; organize and data collect and direct monthly Echo Peer Review, quarterly QA medical and staff conferences.

Facilitate problem solving; suggest course of action for employee issues.

Serves as a role model in providing quality patient care and customer service.

Implementation, revision or creation of new lab clinical protocols.

Employee recognition and award.

Dashboard: issues implementation and completion.

Press Ganey: monitor and share results with staff and improve ratings.

Facilitates and organize training for new/updated ultrasound equipment, technologies, and procedures.

Staff audits and competency and assure compliance of required current certifications and continued education.

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Education Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Science and Allied Health Science with training in echocardiography

License and Certification:

Board certified or board eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers (ARDMS).

Must be board certified and be current with all continuing education requirements.

Years of Experience:

Minimum: 3 - 5 Years equivalent experience
