Job Description

Under the direction of the Accreditation Analyst, the Regulatory Compliance Student Helper II will assist with developing, implementing and maintaining an effective and comprehensive auditing and monitoring program consistent with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Conditions of Participation for Hospitals, The Joint Commission Hospital Standards and Accreditation Process, and other regulatory agency requirements. The Regulatory Compliance Student Helper II will participate in training activities, auditing and monitoring, and will

provide assistance with compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

1. Assist in developing and implementing compliance auditing and monitoring strategies and tools related to identified risk areas and federal, state, and other regulatory agency requirements.

2. Conduct on-site regulatory compliance audits. Collect and maintain data from chart reviews,

unit self-audits, and Epic electronic audits. Manage data and produce reports identifying deficiencies.

3. Provide support with knowledge of policies, procedures and training requirements. Work with Accreditation Analyst and/or other Leadership as needed to improve and/or maintain compliance.

4. Develop compliance audit tools to be utilized by the regulatory department as well as for unit specific self-assessments and education and training.

5. Maintain current knowledge of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and The Joint Commission required documentation and other related regulations impacting compliance auditing and monitoring. Assist in keeping auditing and monitoring program current.

Responsible for the performance of compliance related audit reviews for UCMC in areas that are segments of UCMC net revenues. Responsible for knowledge of government regulations that UCMC must follow, how those regulations affect UCMC operations, and the potential impact of being out of compliance.

While the position will work in a normal office environment, travel to the various hospitals and work locations will be necessary. Work hours will vary from time to time depending upon the needs of the business. Regular and predictable on-site attendance is required for this position. Qualifications

1 - 2 year equivalent experience

One to two years experience in healthcare, compliance, audit or business analyst required. Strong analytical skills, strong communication skills both verbally and in writing. Experience with MS Office products including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work alone and function as part of a team. Ability to exercise independent judgment in order to appropriately conduct audits, determine compliance, identify deficiencies, and collaborate with the Accreditation Analyst and/or other Leadership to achieve satisfactory resolution.
