Aquatic Therapy Instructor, PRN, First Shift, Aquatic Therapy

UC Health is hiring a PRN Aquatic Therapy Instructor for the Aquatic Therapy department for the first shift at Daniel Drake Center.

The Aquatic Therapy Instructor must be lifeguard certified. They will train to become an instructor if not already certified. Thye Aquatic Therapy Instructor is responsible for leading community exercise programs. They will instruct a variety of aquatic and/or land-based wellness classes and assists in departmental maintenance. They must demonstrate behaviors reflective of the mission and core values of Drake Center. They must also demonstrates basic PC and Windows skills.

Daniel Drake is the only hospital-based skilled nursing facility in the Cincinnati region. Patients at Daniel Drake Center have access to many hospital-based services including 24/7 on-site physician coverage, pharmacy, diagnostic imaging, wound care and specialty physician consulting services. The availability of these on-site services allows for quick response to the complex and evolving care needs for our patients.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:
  • Engages in population appropriate communication.
  • Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment. Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
  • Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms.
  • Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
  • Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
  • Instructs community-based wellness and aquatic programs including aquatic exercise, arthritis aquatic programs and/or yoga and tai chi classes, and other classes based on experience and training.
  • Provides appropriate daily maintenance to assure a clean and safe environment at all times.
  • Performs record keeping, registration and appropriate billing for patients and community users of the Center.
  • Performs secretarial skills when needed.
  • Lifeguards the patrons of the pool (if certified).
  • Maintain Employee Health requirements.
  • Annual mandatory classes are maintained and annual reviews, CPR.
  • Attend in-service education programs to stay updated on current specialty practice, equipment and supplies.


Qualifications

  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in appropriate field and/or two years in group exercise and fitness.
  • Certifications and Experience:
    • Current certification in Community CPR/FPR or equivalent.
    • Aquatic Exercise Instructor and/or Arthritis Aquatic Exercise Instructor certification, preferred.
    • Specific wellness to include ACE, AFAA, Personal Training or equivalents,
    • Lifeguard certification Required
    • Successful completion of orientation, aquatic therapy training and on-the-job training as necessary. Have at least two years experience in group instruction and specialty areas.
