Provide spiritual care services to patients, families, and staff and to function as a member of the health care team. To participate in and support other ministries of Spiritual Care Services.

The Chaplain will provide spiritual counseling and support services to patients, families, and staff throughout the hospital, with special attention to designated areas within the hospital.
Respond to spiritual care requests from patients, families, and staff.
Provide spiritual and religious resources.
Act as a liaison to all faith traditions, assisting in contacting necessary outside clergy as needed, encompassing the many faith traditions of our diverse population.
Educate staff about specific religious needs and issues of patients and families which affect their care and treatment.
Provide staff debriefings as needed.
Provide emergency, crisis intervention via 24-hour call services.
Provide on-call and back-up coverage in rotation with other team members as requested.
Participate in nursing rounds and hospital committees as appropriate.
Assist with orientation of new staff.
Support community/visiting clergy in understanding UH policies.
Assist with volunteer clergy. Participate in staff meetings and in-services.
Coordinate Worship Services and Memorial Services for patients, their families, and staff.
Qualifications
Graduate theological degree completed at a school accredited by the Association of Theological Schools or one of the regional Association of Colleges and Schools, strongly preferred. Ordained, licensed or commissioned to function by faith/denominational authority. | Board Certified Chaplain in the Association of Professional Chaplains (or equivalent group, NACC, NAJC, etc.) or is eligible to become Board Certified. If the chaplain is "Board Certified eligible", then within 18 months of beginning employment, their application for Board Certification will be submitted.| Minimum of three years congregational and/or hospital ministry experience.
