The Clinical RN Supervisor is a professional registered nurse who is responsible for the coordination of patient care in a specific area. Utilization of the nursing process helps in identification of patient needs, evaluation of patient outcomes, as well as prevention and early recognition of potential problems. This individual functions as an expert practitioner, educator, and nurse consultant to both patient and physician support staff.
As the Fertility Nurse Manager, you will lead and manage all clinical teams, ensuring exceptional patient care, fostering teamwork, and proactively managing clinical operations. This leadership position combines direct and indirect patient care responsibilities, requiring a balance of clinical expertise, managerial skills, and a patient-centered approach to delivery of care. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and support staff to maintain high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency within the fertility center.

Responsibilities
Leadership:
- Supervises staff assigned to their center of excellence and demonstrates the ability to coach and mentor staff. Operational leadership of shift including patient flow and assignment/adjustment of resources to meet dynamic changing needs throughout the shift. Champion efficient throughput and capacity management. Benchmark internal processes to improve practice. Lead and implement operational improvement initiatives and assures compliance via staff coaching and mentoring. Ensures staff behaviors supports and are consistent with the PRiiDE Values, Missions and Vision of UC Health and University Hospital. Assist with developing and revising of departmental standards, policies and procedures. Staffing and scheduling responsibility for cohort of staff and shift. Promote patient care safety standards. Actively identifying opportunities for improvement in patient satisfaction, perform trials and report back to leadership on results. Facilitate conflict resolution. Empower staff to participate in decision making. Maintain, support and encourage others with professional development.
Resource Management:
- Demonstrates efficiency through the appropriate use of resources or supplies to support timely and effective delivery of patient care. Identifies needs for specific equipment and ensures adequate and properly functioning equipment and supplies are available for patient care. Identify operational needs for units including but not limited to needs related to capital equipment; medical supplies; office supplies; hours of practice; minor equipment; and equipment maintenance. Participate in the new hire process: Shadowing process, selection and oversee specific staff orientation to maintain established standards of care and to ensure competency. Specific professional development and coaching for assigned cohort of staff including quarterly rounding and annual performance appraisals. Provides immediate counseling for staff when specific behaviors or incidents negatively affect patient care or the general work environment. Write up incidents. Participates in the corrective action process. Promote staff retention, team building/collaboration.
- Assist the Manager in ensuring appropriate charge capture compliance. Collaborate with Manager to develop operational and capital budget items. Uses supplies and equipment in a responsible, cost effective manner, reducing expenses where and when possible. Promotes cost effective use of human and material resources including secondary appropriate equipment and supplies.
Performance Improvement/Regulatory Requirements:
- Ensure shift practice is in compliance with state and federal medical laws (EMTALA, HIPAA and House Bill 316). Enforce and maintain corporate compliance. Identify and oversee risk management issues. Ensures staff compliance with established policies, procedures, standards and accreditation and licensing regulations. Actively involved and engage staff in departmental performance improvement (PI) activities according to department PI plan.
- Assist the manager in evaluation the quality of patient care and staff performance through: Personal observation. Facilitating quality improvement monitoring activities. Interviewing patients/families/staff. Reviewing documentation.
- Ensure safety measures are in place for those responsible for the management of in office procedures, involving universal protocol and sedation medications.
Clinical Resource and Competency:
- Maintain hospital wide and department specific nursing competencies and completes annual competencies in required time frame. Collaborate with the Department Educator and/or provides for orientation and educational needs identified in the department. Function as a clinical resource for area of clinical specialty. Promote the use of evidence based practice. Assist in identifying and operationalizing best practices in the unit. Facilitates ongoing staff professional growth.
- Acts as an expert clinician and role model in providing quality patient care to patients and their families within his/her specialty area.
- Utilizes the nursing process for direct patient care and assists the staff with assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care needs. Works collaboratively on performance improvement systems hospital-wide. Liaison to other departments and organizer for interdepartmental projects. Demonstrates the nurse's role as a member of the healthcare team and promotes accountability, responsibility, and commitment regarding patient care standards.
Qualifications
Education: BSN in nursing and current license in state of practice.
Experience: 3-5 years clinical and progressive management experience.
- Current registered nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Ohio
- Preferred 2 years in a reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) setting.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with a patient-centered approach to care delivery.
- Preferred knowledge of infertility treatments, reproductive technologies, and related medical terminology.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records systems and basic computer applications.
- Ability to handle stressful situations with a willingness to learn and adapt.
