Director of Perioperative Services

Job Description

UC Health is hiring a full-time, on-site, Director of Perioperative Services at West Chester Hospital.

This position will coordinate all aspects of Perioperative Services in conjunction with the medical directors for the facility in order to maximize all components of the UC Health System. The Director of Perioperative Services will use advanced education, administrative and clinical knowledge, and skills to find innovative methods to enhance and improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of UC Health Perioperative Services. This position is also responsible for achieving a level of shared operational management between physicians and hospital departments by bringing together resources necessary to positively affect the delivery and continuum of patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Assures progression toward defined quality outcomes, patient and family satisfaction, cost-effectiveness, and systems efficiency.
  • Promotes a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building.
  • Recruits, retains, and motivates a competent, professional, service-oriented staff that can meet stringent established legal and professional criteria.
  • Serves as a unifying and integrating force to achieve Perioperative Services metrics and goals throughout the system.
  • Participates in the Perioperative Strategic Plan in conjunction with the Perioperative governance structure and all associated surgical chairs and system administration in support of UC Health's strategic plan.
  • Develops and monitors the performance improvement programs in conjunction with the medical directors and program managers. This includes data collection, analysis, trending, and maintenance of the committee structures supporting the programs.
  • Establishes effective networks with colleagues throughout the UC Health System.
  • Ensures institutional and system compliance with all regulatory requirements to maintain verification/accreditation status.
  • Manages the Perioperative Services staff through effective communication and allocation of resources, establishment and assessment of performance goals, and provision of educational opportunities for ongoing development.
  • Prepares and manages the Perioperative Services budget in conjunction with institutional and departmental business directors/managers.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals to provide clinical and system oversight for the care of the patients in each service team. Ensuring the provision of efficient, quality care that is cost-effective.
  • Responsible for planning and implementing strategies that improve the quality of health care delivery to the community.
  • Oversees operational support needs for information services, telecommunications, facilities and space management, purchasing, personnel and development and implementation of manpower, planning, and management/development of programs to meet organization goals.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Masters Degree in Nursing
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
  • BLS Certification in a specialty area is strongly preferred
  • 6 - 10 years of equivalent experience is required
