Responsibilities
Responsible for the protection of UC Health associates, patients, visitors, as well as buildings, grounds and vehicles. Enforces rules and regulations as they pertain to all facilities.
- Patrol property and/or facilities by foot, bike or patrol vehicle in an effort to ensure a safe and secure environment, respond to alarm activation's and radio dispatched calls. In performance of their duties, officers are to cooperate with co-workers and other employees, be respectful and conduct themselves in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner. Treat all patients, visitors, and associates in a fair professional manner.
- Investigate and document all reports of criminal or unusual activity, crisis incidents and policy violations, following up when necessary. Complete appropriate incident report, as outlined in department policy. Reports must be complete, clear, concise, accurate, and professional.
- Conduct inspections and document potential and real security, health and safety hazards. Upon discovery, officers shall conduct initial investigation if needed and submit a Plant Operations work request.
- Enforce UC Health policies, procedures, and regulations. Assist in enforcing all Federal, State and Local laws as indicated in the Ohio Revised Code. Appear in court, if necessary to testify in court cases.
- Performs safety checks throughout the facilities, and grounds. Performs monthly checks of the fire extinguishers, panic alarm systems.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate journals, books and other literature, and attending related seminars, conferences and in-services.
- Additional duties: Officers are required to perform all other duties assigned by department management. These duties include, but are not limited to: locking/unlocking doors and gates, handling lost and found property, motorist assists, medical assists (patient restraints), package/mail delivery, helicopter landing safety, etc.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in criminal justice or security management, preferred. Graduation from Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) or other state certified training academy as a security or police officer, preferred.
- Obtain the IAHSS security officer certification within 12 months of employment.
- Two years experience in law enforcement/public safety/security/military police, minimum required. Willing to certify, license or graduate within 12 months, IAHSS certified, preferred.
- Basic police training preferred, experience with multiple computer programs such as Microsoft office required.
