Primary Purpose: This position serves as the central point of contact for assigned areas of responsibility and is responsible for processing and validating requests for supplies made by assigned departments or for specific product lines. The Buyer creates purchase orders departments and ensures all purchase orders are confirmed for pricing, UOM, availability, etc.

Qualifications - External

Knowledge and Skills:

Education: PreferredBachelor's degree in Business or Purchasing Managment, minimum required.

Years of Experience: 1-2 years equivalent experience, minimum required. 3-5 years equivalent experience in Healthcare setting preferred.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

This position requires a minimum of 2 to 4 years relevant experience in a purchasing function with a degree in Business preferred. Previous experience in Health care purchasing is preferred. Must have a broad knowledge of medical products from basic materials up to and including surgical products

This position requires a proficiency in Microsoft office products including Outlook, Excel and Word. Previous experience using the Lawson system preferred

Must be able to work under tight deadlines and be able to communicate effectively with hospital administrators, physicians, and other department heads within UC Health as well as with outside buyers.
