- Conduct patrol of property and/or facilities by foot, bike or patrol vehicle to prevent, discover, and deter the commission of crime, to enforce criminal law, to direct traffic on UC Health property, and to enforce parking regulations in an effort to ensure a safe and secure environment. Responds to calls and complaints involving alarm activation's, automobile accidents, domestic and/or other disturbances, and other misdemeanors and felonies. In performance of their duties, officers are to cooperate with co-workers and other associates. Officers will be respectful and conduct themselves in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner. Treat all patients, visitors, associates, and public in a fair professional manner.
- Writes detailed reports on police-related activities; document violations of UC Health and/or Department policies; Interviews persons with complaints and makes proper disposition or directs them to the proper authorities; Secures crime scenes, administers first aid, arbitrates disputes, conducts preliminary and follow-up investigations, gathers evidence, obtains witness statements, apprehends suspects, makes arrests, Gives advice and general information to inquiries from associates, visitors, patients, and the public. Reports must be complete, clear, concise, accurate, and professional.
- Conduct inspections and document potential security, health and safety hazards. Upon discovery, officers shall conduct initial investigation if needed and submit a work request.
- Enforce UC Health policies, procedures, and regulations. Enforce all Federal, State and Local laws as indicated in the Ohio Revised Code. Make arrests when warranted. Testifies as a witness in court in connection with arrests and investigations.
- Performs safety checks throughout the facilities, and grounds. Performs monthly checks of the fire extinguishers, panic alarm systems.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate journals, books and other literature, and attending periodic training classes in police methods, and related subjects, conferences and in-services.
- Keeps informed and aware of persons and places suspected of illegal activity and/or potential for problems within an assigned area; Enters or retrieves data from a computer terminal, PC or other keyboard device; Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide PRIDE core values.
- Keeps informed and aware of persons and places suspected of illegal activity and/or potential for problems within an assigned area; Enters or retrieves data from a computer terminal, PC or other keyboard device; Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide PRIDE core values.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum High School Education or GED, some college preferred. Must have graduated from an approved Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy as a police officer.
- Must complete the IHASS basic and advanced courses in security officer training within one year of appointment.
- Must possess the Ohio Peace Office Training Academy (OPOTA) certification as a Police Officer with the minimum hours of training required by OPOTA, and not have a break in service as a commissioned police officer for more than one (1) year. Obtain the IAHSS Security officer certification within 12 months of employment.
- Previous Police Officer experience preferred.
