UC Health is hiring a Full Time Registered Nurse (RN) for BMT/Hematology department for the Night Shift. Be a part of a growing Bone Marrow Transplant and Infusion program, by making an indelible impact cancer patient's lives through caring for them with the most advanced treatment.

The Infusion Nurse will support the Cincinnati regions' only adult FACT-accredited academic blood and marrow transplant program, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

The Blood Cancer Healing Center is designed to be an unparalleled hub of expertise and support that will redefine care for blood cancer patients and their families. The center includes dedicated spaces for whole-person patient care, novel treatments, and basic/translational research-all in one building, all dedicated to the future of cancer care.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) is an individual who holds a current state license to practice nursing. The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. The care is culturally based and age-specific.
  • Administers treatments, infusions, and reviews labs
  • Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice.
  • Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit.
  • Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure.
  • Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.


Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)
  • Current OH RN License
  • Chemotherapy/biotherapy certification (preferred)
  • One year Oncology Infusion experience (preferred)
