UC Health is hiring a PRN Childbirth Specialist for the Womens Health Services for varies shift.

This position will educate participants of varied educational and information backgrounds in the childbirth process and newborn processes.

The position provides education and learning techniques to parents on a wide spectrum of maternal health, childbirth, newborn development, and parenting issues in both one-on-one and in group settings.

Responsibilities

The Childbirth education specialist will provide evidence-based information about maternity care practices that will assist women to make informed decisions. Childbirth education is designed to help women access accurate and up to date information about childbirth and make informed decisions about their care. UC Health and West Chester Hospital's maternity services program complements the wide array of women's services and programs offered on our campus, including a dedicated women's imaging center, extensive gynecology services, and the UC Health Women's Center. Through a family-centered approach, our full-service maternity unit and Level IIB Special Care Nursery focus on enhanced patient experiences and highest-quality care for families and babies.

PATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY):

Engages in population appropriate communication.

Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.

Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.

Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.

Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.

Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.

Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.

Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.

Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.

Qualifications

Minimum Required: High School/GED

BLS certification required within 6 weeks of hire

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred: 1 - 2 Years equivalent experience

Professional business casual attire required.

Regular and predictable on-site attendance is required for this position. Teaching virtual classes is also required.
