Department: Pulmonary Sleep Lab
Hours: Full Time, 40 hours/week
Shift: First Shift

Function as an integral part of the Clinical office staff. Responsible for obtaining intake information for a specific patient population, performing tasks and treatments as delegated by licensed personnel and direct patient care as required. Responsible for scheduling test and procedures ordered by the physician and providing limited patient education and instructions associated with these tests and procedures. ?
At designated locations, serve as the onsite administrator, subject matter expert and/or preceptor for the practice and facility.

  • Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
  • Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms.
  • Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
  • Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
  • Assist in the implementation of age-appropriate care for specific patient population including provision of direct patient care as part of the clinical team.
  • Obtain vital signs, EKGs, laboratory specimens and other necessary information as required for proper evaluation of patient as requested by physician or nursing personnel utilizing universal precautions at all times.
  • Assists the physician in documenting notes and in doing orders and prescriptions by setting them up in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • All documents, prescriptions, and orders will be pended to the physician to review, edit, and sign as appropriate.
  • Prepare and maintenance of the clinic area to include but not to limited to: cleaning and stocking examination rooms, daily setup and securing of computer (laptops) equipment, and maintenance of diagnostic equipment.
  • Return routine patient telephone calls such as prescription refills or pre-certification for medication as directed from the Electronic Medical Record with appropriate and timely documentation regarding actions taken.
  • Coordinate ancillary services such as diagnostic testing/imaging, hospital procedures and/or admission, additional patient visits, and acquisition of pertinent medical records.
  • Maintain positive, professional and cooperative demeanor throughout all interactions with patients, staff, physicians and members of management.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
  • Understands and adheres to the legal responsibilities and requirements with the medical assistant role.
  • Seeks knowledge and understanding of quality measures and patient experience.
  • Serve as on-site coordinator, performing functions such as: facility oversight, supports and serves as an on-going resource providing training, tools and support for staff, Builds and maintains relationships across the business and cross functional teams, Identifies and networks with external organizations, groups and/or other resources providing a connection to patients and/or patient families Integrates process, procedures, practices with regards to financial, quality or service to positively impact patients and patient satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of and ability to perform skills within the scope of a MA and also highly performs a specialized skill. This includes but not limited to: procedures, EKGs, casting, radiology/imaging

Administrative Duties

Education: High school diploma or GED, minimum required.

Years of Experience : 1 - 2 Years equivalent experience. ? Preferred: 3 - 5 Years equivalent experience
