The IT Director for Clinical Systems and Interoperability oversees the strategic direction, management, and operational excellence of healthcare technology solutions that support patient care and clinical workflows. This role ensures the integration and functionality of clinical engineering systems, imaging technologies, and applications through effective interface management, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability across platforms. The IT Director will lead a team of specialists, manage relationships with clinical and administrative stakeholders, oversee project and budget planning, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This leader will drive innovation and system optimization to enhance patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and support the organization's mission.

Responsibilities
Operational Efficiency and Effectiveness:
- Oversees technology and solutions for multiple operational areas and manages and mentors highly trained leaders and staff.
- Manages a team of leaders and professionals responsible for implementing and maintaining the company's technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems.
- Thinks quickly to address issues and prevent any problems from affecting UC Health.
- Carries out responsibility to protect, grow, and optimize the assets of the UC Health Organization as it relates to Information Systems and its use.
- Sets operational and quality targets for the departments; regularly monitors efficiency using metrics
- Utilizes industry statistics and information to validate efficiency and effectiveness
- Maintains and applies technical business acumen to increase service value
- Provides direction and oversight regarding government regulations and initiatives such as the HIPAA, HITECH Act, Meaningful Use, 21 st Century Cures Act, and others.
Relationship Management:
- Establishes direction within IS&T to improve image and be the preferred service provider for UC Health.
- Shows a high-level understanding of customer's business processes and key issues
- Builds working relationships with key customers including Senior UC and UC Health Executives.
- Builds relationships with third-party vendors.
Resource Identification and Allocation:
- Provides leadership to oversight all software development, acquisitions, installation, maintenance, and support for the UC Health.
- Motivates teams to provide quality work to reach UC Health Goals.
- Assesses area responsibilities and defines required resource skills across multiple teams and departments.
- Manages salary resources to perform responsibilities in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Planning:
- In conjunction with the VP/CIO, own the corporate information systems and technology (IS&T) agenda and partner with the Senior Leadership Team of UC and UC Health to develop a comprehensive IS&T strategy that enables and accelerates the enterprise goals.
- Develops and maintains fiscal plans that support operations and capital budget process.
- Guides and communicates with Senior UC and UC Health Leadership to encourage understanding and participation in technical planning.
- Influences application, technical, and architectural strategy for business initiatives.
Project and Process:
- Monitors and reports on the performance of the IS&T initiatives including actual versus expected results, budgets, and project status.
- Standardizes and manages project management processes
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles and practices of project and process management and the applications that support them within UC Health.
- Utilizes PMO tools and processes to effectively direct teams and priorities within UC Health.
Development:
- Ensures that UC Health IS&T Leadership Employees have the necessary experience and training needed to support and manage their area.
- Delegates responsibility to IS&T Leadership Employees effectively
- Defines goals and objectives, for each IS&T Leadership Employee, with progress measured on a periodic basis
- Meets regularly with each IS&T Leadership Employee to review performance
Qualifications
Minimum Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related field
- Ten or more years of experience in Healthcare IT
- Five or more years of management experience in Healthcare IT
- 6 - 10 years of equivalent experience
