Job Description

UC Health is hiring a full-time Advanced Radiation Therapist for the Radiation Oncology Department for the first shift at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

An Advanced Radiation Therapist will support the University of Cincinnati Medical Center's Radiation Oncology Department to deliver high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, perform treatments and procedures according to physicians' prescriptions, and complete simple treatment planning. An Advanced Radiation Therapist must be able to perform advanced treatment on specialty patients as well as perform simulation activities.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities
  • Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care and demonstrates the ability to establish priorities of care based on the patient's assessment and needs.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
  • Delivers radiation treatments according to physician prescription including advanced procedures on specialty patients.
  • Maintains daily treatment schedule efficiently and in a customer focused manner.
  • Initiates communication and is proactive in anticipating patient needs, technical issues, and maintaining learning environment.
  • Maintains treatment records and assists physicians with treatment simulations, fabrication of treatment devices, and body contouring according to established departmental standards.
  • Perform simple calculations and daily quality assurance checkups through output measurements.


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Associate degree in an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the State of Ohio in Radiation Therapy
  • 1 - 2 Years equivalent experience
  • 2 Years experience as a Radiation Therapist Staff
  • Competencies completed
