Advocacy and Health Policy Manager, Day Shift, UC Health

UC Health is hiring a full-time Advocacy and Health Policy Manager for UC Health's Government Relations Department.

This position is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, developing, and assuming responsibility for legislative, regulatory, and policy proposals that affect the health system, its patients and families, clinicians, associates, and the community. The position engages system leadership in relevant discussions on a local, state, and national level to advance health research, education, patient care, health access, healthcare coverage, and public policy.

This position will represent UC Health in the Southwest Ohio region including but not limited to the County Commissions in Hamilton and Butler Counties, the City of Cincinnati, and townships.

Responsibilities

  • Supports building advocacy capacity for UC Health including fostering relationships with Executive and Senior Leadership, clinical stakeholders (nursing, physician, APPs), and other subject matter experts and key stakeholders through strategic communication, meetings, presentations, and dissemination of public policy-related materials.
  • Communicates activities related to government relations and advocacy efforts. Including, but not limited to the Government Relations web page on UC Health intranet, the Government Relations newsletter (or other communication medium), and business unit briefings on advocacy and public policy strategy.
  • Represents UC Health at external meetings and reports back to Vice President.
  • Coordinates, develops, implements, and supports the UC Health public policy agenda.
  • Supports specific policy projects and goals, including contributing to project planning and strategy and ensuring completion of deliverables.
  • Research healthcare policy issues and writes advocacy materials and policy briefs.
  • Studies and analyzes local, state, and federal legislative policy proposals to determine their impact on UC Health, its patients and families, clinical stakeholders (nursing, physician, APPs), and associates.
  • Manages UC Health Executive Engagement program including completion of protocols, preparing background materials for UC Health stakeholders and external guests, etc.
  • Supports all aspects of UC Health's events including advocacy day, public policy forums, legislative briefings, and other policy-related events for the organization.


Qualifications

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required - (Political Science, Business Administration, Marketing, Nursing).
  • Masters Degree is preferred- (Political Science, Public Health, MBA, JD, MS).

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
  • 3 - 5 years of equivalent experience is required.

AREAS OF REPRESENTATION:
  • This position will represent UC Health in the Southwest Ohio region including but not limited to the County Commissions in Hamilton and Butler Counties, the City of Cincinnati, and townships.
