Job Description

UC Health is hiring a Full-Time, Day Shift Clinical RN Manager for the Air Care & Mobile Care Department at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The Air Care & Mobile Care Clinical RN Manager will design, implement, and evaluate patient care by coordinating, delegating, and supervising the care of the health care team. This position will support the Air Care/Mobile Care department's ambulance service, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care, and according to policy and procedures. This unit provides Advanced Transport Medicine to Greater Cincinnati and Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana.

Air Care & Mobile Care Unit Details:
  • Has provided the Greater Cincinnati area with specialized medical transport services for patients in our community for over 35 years.
  • Is the only service in the region to be accredited in four levels of medical transport by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems.
  • Specializes in caring for and transporting critically injured and sick patients, wherever he or she may be, by bringing the world-class care of UC Medical Center to the patient.


Responsibilities

Communication and Relationship Building:
  • Proficient in communication and technologies to address nursing, healthcare, and organizational issues appropriate to diverse audiences.
  • Establishes structures and processes to ensure effective information sharing among patients, families/significant others, and the healthcare team.
  • Exhibits follow-through on promises and concerns.
  • Demonstrates care about people as individuals with empathy and concern while ensuring that organizational ethics, goals, and objectives are met.

  • Participates in systems review to improve the quality of patient care delivery and to critically evaluate and anticipate risks to patient safety with the aim of preventing patient care errors.
  • Identifies and participates in performance improvement processes that provide outcome measurement.
  • Communicates, educates, and involves staff in quality improvement processes.
  • Participates in patient satisfaction strategies and service recovery.
  • Ensures that clinical policies and procedures are reviewed and updated in accordance with evidence-based practice.

  • Articulates and takes action to support the JCAHO National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of internal and external disaster plans and fire drills.
  • Incorporates safety into clinical processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Supports a non-punitive environment for reporting errors.

  • Maintains current knowledge of patient care delivery systems and innovations.
  • Serves as a change agent when patient care and processes are re-designed.
  • Articulates federal and state regulations.

Business Skills:
  • Understands healthcare finances as evidenced by preparing and analyzing unit budgets.
  • Correlates the relationship between effective staffing, patient care, and budgeting. Identifies educational needs of existing and potential staff.

Supervision of Staff:
  • Actively recruits and initiates strategies for staff retention.
  • Utilizes corrective action appropriately to mitigate work behavior issues.
  • Coaches staff in the development of career plans.
  • Provides visionary thinking and provides input in the staffing issues impacting patient flow.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately to health care personnel.
  • Creates an environment that recognizes and values differences in staff, physicians, patients, and communities.
  • Ensures the decision-making authority of staff is acknowledged and incorporated into patient care delivery.

Professionalism:
  • Exhibits personal and professional accountability and career planning.
  • Supports and encourages staff to be involved in professional organizations, projects, and Clinical Advancement Program, to obtain certification and advanced education.
  • Articulates the application of ethical principles for patient care and operations.
  • Creates and promotes a healthy work environment that is conducive to opinion sharing and decreases moral distress.
  • Role models the perspective that patient care is the core of the organization's work


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Current OH RN License
  • 3 to 5 years of management experience
  • Professional certification, preferred
