Mobile Crisis Behavioral Health Specialist, Varied Shift, Mobile Crisis Unit
UC Health is hiring a full-time Behavioral Health Specialist for the mobile crisis unit for the varying shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The Mobile Crisis Team's (MCT) purpose is to assess adults and children in mental health crisis to divert from hospitalization and or criminal justice system as the primary goal. Mobile Crisis Behavioral Health Specialists are responsible for responding to mental health crisis in the Hamilton County community. Response includes de- escalation of mental health crisis, mental health and/or substance abuse assessments via phone or onsite, information and referrals and follow up with community members in crisis as needed.

- The Behavioral Health Specialist will support the Medical Centers mobile crisis unit, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

- Phone consultations and triage for Mobile Crisis referrals are assessed using standard MCT process. Make decisions regarding Mobile Crisis response and priority of the response. Response to crisis in community to complete assessment in order to maintain patient within community, avoiding hospitalization. Assess opportunities to engage Clinical Mobile Crisis team as needed.
- Building relationships with community partners for ongoing referrals including Law Enforcement. Stay up to date with community resources relevant to the patient population served. Identifying from assessment which referrals are needed for patient with goal of ensuring patient remains in the community without hospitalization or intersect with criminal justice system. Ensuring referrals are accessed by patient through follow up.
- Identifying patients in need of follow up post hospitalization/Emergency Psych visit. Assessing patient's post discharge after a mental health crisis admission from MCT or police statement of beliefs. Ensuring the patient who was discharged can access referrals and resources needed to remain success in the community. Partner with community agencies to ensure patient is accessing the correct care.
- Use Epic to document all interactions with patients including. Assessments,Interventions,Referrals,Follow up. Input needed data for Mobile Crisis reporting and database work.
- Participate in activities that support enhanced customer service and results in increased Press Ganey scores. Attend staff meetings and mandatory departmental in-service training sessions & continuing education in-services; maintain positive working relationships with and knowledge about community agencies and services. Maintain timely, clear, and concise documentation; and write reports as needed. Respond to E-mail requests and provide information as requested. Participate in quality and safety initiatives.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree (required) (preferred fields of study: Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, or related)
- License and Certificate: Licensed as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in the state of Ohio and as recognized by the Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapy Board of Ohio (CSWMFT)
