Cardiac Sonographer, Full-Time, First Shift

UC Health is hiring a full-time Cardiac Sonographer for the first shift at the UC Medical Center.

The Cardiac Sonographer will perform all echocardiographic diagnostic modalities with the ability to utilize a variety of equipment to determine accurate assessment of cardiac function, anatomy and physiology flow parameters.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the testing schedule in an effective and timely manner. Serve as a role model in providing quality patient care and customer service. Communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, their families, and staff. Maintain clean exam rooms and equipment reporting any problems or safety hazards to the appropriate person.
  • Engages in population appropriate communication.
  • Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
  • Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
  • Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication, or operates equipment safely.
  • Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
  • Perform echocardiographic diagnostic imaging and testing with the ability to utilize a variety of equipment to determine accurate assessment of cardiac function, anatomy and physiology flow parameters in multiple patient care areas
  • Conduct studies of consistently high quality utilizing special skills according to established protocols. Delineate and record abnormalities and make appropriate changes in technique as required by specific patient care needs
  • Comply with all department policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate compliance with all requirements for safety, infection control, and disaster plan
  • Serve as an expert role model in providing quality patient care for internal and external customers with appropriate test/indications selection.
  • Provide one-on-one training to student technologists, cardiology fellows, and other staff physicians
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information. Comply with all department policies and procedures. Demonstrate compliance with all requirements for safety, infection control, and disaster plan. Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  • Knowledge of Merge Cardio operations, local functions, and systems functions
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Minimum Required: Associates degree in Ultrasonography, Radiology, Biological Sciences or a relevant health sciences field.
  • Registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Relevant specialty certification for specialty area(s): ACS, RCS, and RDCS. Current BLS Certification.
  • Minimum Required: Registry eligible new graduate of a sonography or radiology program. Preferred: 1 year clinical experience as a registered cardiac sonographer.
