UC Health is hiring a PRN Nurse Clinician for the Womens Health Services.

This position will educate participants of varied educational and information backgrounds in the childbirth process and newborn processes.

The position provides education and learning techniques to parents on a wide spectrum of maternal health, childbirth, newborn development, and parenting issues in both one-on-one and in group settings.

Responsibilities

The Nurse Clinician is a professional registered nurse who is responsible for the coordination of patient care in a specific area. Utilization of the nursing process helps in identification of patient needs, evaluation of patient outcomes, as well as prevention and early recognition of potential problems. This individual functions as an expert practitioner, educator, and nurse consultant to both patient and physician support staff.
  • Assesses patients' and families' understanding of injuries and plan of care. Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient. Gives clear instructions to patients/families regarding treatment.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health issues.
  • Interprets population-related data and plans care appropriately.
  • Acts as an expert clinician and role model in providing quality patient care to patients and their families within his/her specialty area.
  • Utilizes the nursing process for direct patient care and assists the staff with assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care needs.
  • Demonstrates the Nurse Clinician's role as a member of the healthcare team and promotes accountability, responsibility, and commitment regarding patient care standards.
  • Identifies educational needs of patients/families concerning health promotion and/or maintenance, alterations in health status, disease processes, and interdisciplinary plan of care during and post-hospitalization within specialty area.
  • Collaborates with unit Managers and department nurse educators to identify the educational needs of all levels of nursing staff, and to plan and provide appropriate learning opportunities to meet those needs.
  • Develops and delivers educational programs to nursing staff as appropriate.
  • Promotes continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient settings through consultations with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Works closely with Medical Director and Program Manager to coordinate and enhance the care of a specific patient population.
  • Participates in the development and evaluation of standards of patient care.
  • Assists staff nurses in identifying quality assurance and other research questions. Interprets and applies current research to area of specialty.
  • Monitors literature for research pertaining to clinical and system changes and develops and implements changes in response to these findings.
  • Collaborates in research endeavors with other healthcare professionals.
  • Uses supplies and equipment in a responsible, cost-effective manner, reducing expenses where and when possible.
  • Promotes cost-effective use of human and material resources including secondary appropriate equipment and supplies.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of science in nursing required.
  • Experience in Women's Health
  • 3 years' experience
  • Teach all required classes

Required Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrates advanced clinical skills which leads to detection of subtle physiologic and psychological problems.
