UC Health is hiring a full-time Clinical Nurse (RN) Manager for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) for varying shifts at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The Clinical Nurse Manager will support the Medical Center's PACU, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.
This 30 bed Post Anesthesia Care Unit specializes in Phase 1 recovery for general anesthesia cases throughout the hospital. As the region's only Level 1 academic trauma center, we specialize in the treatment of complex neuro, ENT and trauma cases. Other surgeries and procedures are diverse and include Cath Lab/EP, IR and ICU level of care patients. Phase 1 recovery focuses on airway maintenance, breathing, hemodynamic stability and pain control.

Responsibilities
As Nurse Manager, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of overall nursing care to patients for this department. In this role, you will design, coach, and lead your nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training clinical team members in collaboration with your Clinical Supervisors, Charge RNs, and Preceptor staff.

Responsibilities
As Nurse Manager, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of overall nursing care to patients for this department. - Proficient in communication and technologies to address nursing, healthcare and organizational issues appropriate to diverse audiences. Establishes structures and processes to ensure effective information sharing among patients, families/significant others and the healthcare team.
- Ensures individuals contribution to goals through recognition that is consistent with their personal definition of meaning, fulfillment, development and advancement. Builds credibility with physicians as a champion for patient care, quality, and nursing professionalism.
- Collaborates with medical staff leaders in determining patient care services, equipment, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Fosters relationships with nursing academia to provide clinical experiences and resources for students.
- Utilizes and interprets evidence-based data for the establishment of standards, practices, and patient care models for delivery of care. Serves as a change agent when patient care and processes are re-designed.
- Articulates and takes action to support the JCAHO National Patient Safety Goals. Supports a non-punitive environment for reporting errors.
- Participates in systems review to improve quality of patient care delivery and to critically evaluate and anticipate risks to patient safety with the aim of preventing patient care errors.
- Identifies and participates in performance improvement processes that provide outcome measurement. Communicates, educates, and involves staff in quality improvement processes.
- Ensures that clinical policies and procedures are reviewed and updated in accordance with evidence-based practice.
- Understands healthcare finances as evidenced by preparing and analyzing unit budgets.
- Correlates the relationship between effective staffing, patient care and budgeting. Identifies educational needs of existing and potential staff.
- Articulates federal and state regulations.
Qualifications
- BSN required.
- A minimum of three years of experience as a charge nurse or other equivalent leadership experience is required.
- Licensure in the State of Ohio as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
