Job Description
Responsible for planning and implementing various resident activities and leisure services. Screen residents for activity preferences on admission and routinely after admission. Develops individual Edufit activity/fitness programs and provides general supervision of the activities staff. Completes all necessary documentation, establishes, follows, and updates Service Plans on a routine basis utilizing an interdisciplinary team approach. Demonstrate behaviors reflective of the mission and core values of Bridgeway Pointe as well as those specific to required competencies for successful job performance.
Responsibilities
Engages in population-appropriate communication. Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks. Gives clear instructions to patients/families regarding treatment. Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient. Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary. Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems. Interprets population-related data and plans care appropriately. Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication, or operates equipment safely. Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect. � Demonstrates and reinforces the behaviors reflective of the mission and core values of DrakeCenter in self and others. These behaviors are incorporated into the job responsibilities and job performance expectations/standards for all DrakeCenter employees and delineated within the following five core value/competency domains.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Two years in activity programming for adult/older adults in long-term care or a related field required
Preferred:
Bachelors Degree
Completion of a 70-hour activities training course
Demonstrates knowledge of the growth and development needs of adult/older adult populations
Experience in a nursing home and/or assisted living facility

- Displays sensitivity to all customers, including patients, residents, coworkers, and visitors as evidenced by offering assistance to make them more comfortable. Examples include placing the telephone and call light within reach, adjusting bed linens to be more comfortable, reviewing their schedule for the day with them to help them prepare for the activities, providing directions, helping to carry their tray in the cafeteria, holding elevator doors and providing prompt and courteous responses to questions.
- Presents a cheerful and professional attitude to all customers as evidenced by smiling and greeting people as they pass.
- Respects the privacy of all customers as evidenced by waiting for permission to enter residents' rooms, discussing confidential information in a private setting, properly covering or draping the patient during treatments, and closing curtains or doors during personal care or confidential conversations.
- Provides attentive care to the needs of all customers by allowing ample time to ask questions while providing information and education, allowing them as much opportunity as possible to make decisions as to their care such as which activity they will perform first during a treatment or care session.
- Demonstrates compassionate care for all customers as evidenced by concluding each encounter by asking "is there anything else I can do for you right now?
