Equipment Operator, Shift Varies, Grounds & Movers

UC Health is hiring a full-time Equipment Operator for the Grounds & Movers department at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The Grounds & Movers Department will support the Medical Centers and deliver high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision from the Parking & Access Control Mgr. or other administrative superior, operates motorized equipment to handle trash, spread salt, plow snow, mow grass, clean streets, move furniture and perform other highway maintenance operations. Help visitors, patents, & employees with minor mechanical repairs, changing flat tires, jump starting, unlocking locked vehicles with key's locked inside, maintains traffic flow and provides information at the hospital entrances. Drives 15/9 passenger vans' for patients/visitors/associates around the medical center complex, and other areas as directed. Responsible for maintaining logs and equipment, relative to day-to-day operations. etc.
  • Operates any combination of following motorized equipment to haul Trash, spread salt, plow snow, mow grass, clean and repair streets, spray weeds, weed beds and put down mulch, plant flowers and plants move and load supplies and materials (i.e. forklift, mowers [under 60 cubic inch, push, side mount rotary], operates sweeper for cleaning grounds and garages free of debris, and 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton and 1 ton pickup truck or van, plow and spreader, chain saws, stake truck, stump cutter, tractors under 190 cubic inches, water pumps, weed eaters, 24 foot straight truck/axle box truck).
  • Performs general labor and maintenance functions; loads and unloads Freight; arranges stock in warehouse; moves equipment, helps move Furniture to large for one person to handle from time to time.
  • Maintains housekeeping duties, empty trash and ashtrays as prescribed by area, maintains housekeeping duties in Goodman and North Albert Sabin Way Garage, including mopping elevator floors, cleaning elevator walls and cleaning glass in elevators.
  • Performs general labor and maintenance functions; assist in minor mechanical repairs to vehicle such as; jump starting, changing flat tires, unlocking vehicles with keys locked inside.
  • Enforces parking policies; monitors vehicles for parking authorization provides security for parked vehicles, assist in impounding and towing situations.
  • Directs traffic flow at hospital entrances; directs individuals to appropriate areas for patient admissions, discharge, emergency entrance, etc; provides directions and or maps to clinics, offices, etc; obtains assistance as needed. Works with Public Safety to provide information necessary for towing of vehicles parked illegally on hospital driveways.
  • Operates 15/9 passenger vans' as visitor/patient shuttle service for the Medical Center Complex. Maintains logs and records. Reports Maintenance needs to Parking and Access Control Mgr. or to Senior Client Services Attendant. Performs safety check on van as needed. Parks automobiles for patients and visitors. Handles appropriate cash transactions with cashier's office as needed or directed.
  • Greets patient/visitors and assists them in getting in and out of vehicles. Directs visitors/patients away from entrances, to appropriate areas to smoke and other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains housekeeping conditions as prescribed by area.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver's license required.
  • 3 months related experience required.
  • Must have experience operating motorized equipment and training in safety practices associated with operation of heavy equipment; must be able to lift 60-100 pounds and be able to demonstrate full range of motion for bending, stooping, and lifting; must have valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
