UC Health is hiring a Work only Weekends House Supervisor for the Nursing Pool Department at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The Clinical Supervisor will support the Medical Centers' Nursing Pool Department, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

The House Supervisor is an individual who holds a current state license to practice nursing. The House Supervisor requires knowledge regarding operational leadership of shift including patient flow and assignment/adjustment of resources to meet dynamic changing needs throughout the shift. The Clinical RN Supervisor will actively identify opportunities for improvement in patient satisfaction, perform trials and report back to leadership on results.
  • Supervises staff assigned to their unit or center of excellence and demonstrates the ability to coach and mentor staff.
  • Lead and implement operational improvement initiatives and assures compliance via staff coaching and mentoring.
  • Identifies needs for specific equipment and ensures adequate and properly functioning equipment and supplies are available for patient care.
  • Ensure shift practice is in compliance with state and federal medical laws (EMTALA, HIPAA and House Bill 316).
  • Maintain hospital wide and department specific nursing competencies and completes annual competencies in required time frame.
  • Collaborate with the Department Educator and/or provides for orientation and educational needs identified in the department.
  • Actively involved and engage staff in departmental performance improvement (PI) activities according to department PI plan.
  • Provides immediate counseling for staff when specific behaviors or incidents negatively affect patient care or the general work environment. Write up incidents.


Qualifications

EDUCATION:
  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Nursing.

LICENSE & CERTIFICATION:
  • The House Supervisor RN (Registered Nurse) is a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, who holds a current license to practice nursing as an RN in the state of Ohio. Membership in a professional organization is desirable, but not required. BCLS required prior to patient contact. ACLS, telemetry certification required. Certification(s) specific to rehabilitation, medical/surgical, orthopedic, critical care or gerontological nursing desired.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum Required: 3 - 5 Years equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: 6 - 10 Years equivalent experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • While the position will work in a normal office environment, travel to the various hospitals and work locations will be necessary. Work hours will vary from time to time depending upon the needs of the business. Regular and predictable on-site attendance is required for this position.
