Job Description
UC Health is hiring a full-time Interventional Radiology Technologist for the cardiac cath lab department for first shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. We're offering up to a $30,000 sign-on bonus!
The Interventional Radiology Technologist assists with all aspects of diagnostic and/or interventional angiographic procedures within the cardiac catheterization labs and vascular angiography suite. Includes (but not limited to) responsibility for all diagnostic and interventional modalities used within the department including intravascular ultrasound, fractional flow reserve, intra aortic balloon pump and mechanical thrombectomy.

- Engages in population appropriate communication.
- Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
- Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
- Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
- Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
- Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
- Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms.
- Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
- Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
- Inspects and prepares radiologic equipment. Troubleshoots as necessary.
- Reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate people. Follows thorough until problem resolved.
- Produces hard copy of images as needed. Maintains archival storage of digitized data.
- Prepares patients for procedures, providing clear understandable instructions.
- Respects the rights, privacy and property of others.
- Shows sensitivity and compassion.
- Prepares and administers contrast media under MD supervision.
- Provides knowledgeable assistance in obtaining necessary images.
- Demonstrates compliance with infection control guidelines and hand hygiene policies.
- Utilizes personal protective equipment and standard precautions in relation to exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
- Maintains sterile technique while preparing sterile tray and draping patient.
- Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures and responds appropriately when emergencies occur.
- Monitors radiation exposure to patient and regulates time and intensity of dose to protect patient and other team members, Notifies MD of prolonged exposure.
- Reports to radiation physicist per hospital policy.
- Monitors contrast usage during case. Keeps MD aware of contrast usage during procedure.
- Demonstrates proper hemostasis techniques including manual pressure.
- Maintains competence and certification in point of care testing.
- Participates in continuing education activities to promote professional growth.
- Participates in unit activities and/or hospital committees to improve patient care and work-related processes.
- Precepts students and other health care team members to maximize their learning experience.
- Engages in ongoing education and training in cultural and language appropriate service delivery.
- Stays current with changes in technology and patient care by attending in services, journal clubs and reading professional journals.
- Demonstrates knowledge of hemodynamic parameters and monitoring. Accurately documents the chronology of the procedures. Accurately records hemodynamic waveforms and calculates values. Promptly notifies team members of cardiac rhythm disturbances or pressure abnormalities.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum Required: Associate's degree, Completion of an AMA approved program in radiologic technology, or associate's degree of science in radiologic technology
- License and Certification: Ohio license, Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
- Minimum required: 1-2 years equivalent experience
