Lab Manager, First Shift, Clinical Laboratory Department

UC Health is hiring a full-time lab manager for the clinical laboratory department for first shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The Laboratory Manager is responsible for day-to-day work activities of the Clinical Laboratory. Under the guidance of the Laboratory Director, he/she works to ensure efficient and effective operations. In cooperation with the Laboratory Administrative team, he/she works to ensure compliance with the accrediting agency and government regulations, works to ensure that both internal and external customer needs are met and that the functions of the laboratory provide quality and timely services.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities
  • Plans, delegates and organizes work activities to ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations.
  • Ensures quality laboratory programs relative to scope of job duty to include, but not limited to, customer support of internal and external clients, inventory management, review of test menu, test build, specimen collection, specimen processing, turn around time, charges and invoicing.
  • Oversees quality management program relative to scope of job duty. Monitors and reports quality indicators to include pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing. Suggests and implements performance improvement initiatives.
  • Attends appropriate hospital and laboratory committee meetings. Facilitates staff meetings. In conjunction with Lab Administration, develops and communicates goals and objectives to the relevant work groups. Utilizes effective means of communication to ensure accurate and timely delivery of information.
  • Performs management functions including, hiring/termination decision, correction action, time/attendance, competency assessment and performance appraisals.
  • Participates in Administrative/Technical tasks and projects with Laboratory Administration.


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
  • Clinical Laboratory and phlebotomy background preferred.
  • Management experience is preferred.
