Responsible for the daily lifeguard duties of therapy and community programs in the Aquatic Therapy Center. Maintains a safe environment for all participants and staff. Responds to aquatic emergencies in a professional and competent manner. Assist in a variety of aquatic programming as needed for community programs. Assist clinical staff in providing appropriate aquatic therapy to patients. Maintains the daily maintenance and upkeep of the Aquatic Therapy Center. Demonstrates behaviors reflective of the mission and core values of Drake Center. Demonstrates basic PC and Windows skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lifeguards for inpatient and outpatient, Children's Hospital therapies, community programs and exercise classes and rental groups.
  • Provides appropriate daily maintenance to provide a clean and safe environment at all times.
  • Performs record keeping, registration and appropriate paperwork for patients and community users.
  • Independent studies to increase professional competency is participated in and specialty education sessions are attended.
  • Maintain Employee Health requirements.
  • Annual mandatory classes are maintained and annual reviews, CPR.
  • In-service education programs are scheduled and attended to assure staff is updated on current specialty practice, equipment and supplies attends 75% of in-services.


Qualifications

Education:
  • High School Diploma, will consider minors who have completed 10th grade.

License & Certification:
  • Current certification in Community CPR/FPR or equivalent.
  • Lifeguard training and First Aide.
  • Hold current certification in a recognized Lifeguard training program. Certification in Water Safety Instruction preferred.

Years of Experience:
  • Successful completion of orientation, aquatic therapy training and on-the-go- training as necessary.
  • One year or more experience as a lifeguard preferred.
