Mammography Technologist, First Shift, Breast Imaging Department

UC Health is hiring a PRN Mammography Technologist for the breast imaging department for first shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The Mammography Technologist performs stereotactic breast biopsies to include scheduling exam with patient, post procedure follow up of patients, phone calls, obtaining biopsy results, faxing to referring physician, tracking in appropriate systems, and informing radiologist of results.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities
  • Engages in population appropriate communication.
  • Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
  • Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
  • Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms.
  • Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
  • Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
  • Performs mammographic and DEXA procedures in accordance with established protocols, which includes, but is not limited to, reviewing for appropriateness and completeness of patient histories and requested services. Explains procedures to patients.
  • Prepares images, prior studies and paperwork including patient history and location of previous films. Submits completed studies to the radiologists for interpretation. Faxes release form to appropriate facility for release of previous mammograms. Follows up films are received in timely manner. Digitizes images, ensures images are available for radiologist in Dx Secure View.
  • Maintains appropriate records and supplies. Assists with meeting all requirements for the different accreditations.
  • Participates in continuing education activities related to the field of Mammography. Obtains and maintains required licensure. Demonstrates and maintains skill in providing care for patients of specific age groups, such as adult and geriatric, through in-service and continuing education.
  • Performs evaluative equipment tests and participates in Quality Assurance program.
  • Qualifies patients for funding programs. Maintains record of results. Tracks grant funds.
  • Tracks patient results and notifies appropriate parties to ensure proper follow up is obtained. Does all follow up of abnormal mammograms including calling patients to schedule return appointments.


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Associate of Science Degree in Radiology Technology
  • Registered as a Radiologic Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology
  • Prefers one year experience in mammography but will train
  • Must agree to obtain advanced board certification in mammography

Expected starting salary range for this position is between $27.33/hr. - $33.78/hr.

The actual pay rate for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and other requirements for the position.
