Nurse Educator, First Shift, Cardiovascular ICU

UC Health is hiring a Full time Nurse Educator for Cardiovascular ICU Department at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The Nurse Educator will support the Medical Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

CVICU is a 24-bed unit dedicated to providing intensive, comprehensive care and monitoring for patients following cardiac and thoracic surgery and heart-related, life-threatening emergencies. Surgeries include CABG, valvuloplasty and valve replacement, heart transplant, VAD implantation and various thoracic procedures such as VATS and thoracotomies. Non-surgical care includes ECMO, post-arrest hypothermia, and management of acute with mechanical support and acute on chronic heart failure.

Responsibilities

The Nurse Educator is a registered nurse who influences role competence and professional growth of learners. The focus of this role is to develop, implement, and evaluate content to promote the professional development. In addition, the Nurse Educator works to ensure staff have the skills and training to meet the needs of the patients safely and effectively in the organization. This individual collaborates with the nursing leadership team to meet staff educational needs based on current evidence based research and practices, and applies design principles and integrates technology to ensure effective learning experiences.
  • Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
  • Interprets population-related data and plans care appropriately.
  • The scope of the education consultant is primarily at the hospital/corporate level.
  • The Education Consultant is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the education plans through the use of education needs assessments as needed, guidance from interprofessional leadership, and current evidence.
  • Applies design principles and integrates technology to ensure effective learning experiences for competency assessment and validation to reflect practice changes, regulatory agency, or organizational policy requirements.
  • Serves in collaboration with nursing and interprofessional leadership, the Professional Practice Organization (PPO), and other UC Health entities to implement nursing education and professional development programs.


Qualifications

Education: Master's Degree in Nursing

License & Certification: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. Current BLS certifications required. Certification in Education and/or clinical specialty area strongly preferred. If not currently certified, expected to achieve certification within 1 year of eligibility.

Years of Experience: Minimum Required: 3 years clinical experience.
