UC Health is hiring a part-time Paramedic for the emergency department for the night shift at the West Chester Hospital.
The Paramedic provides assistance to patient care services and medical staff of the West Chester Hospital's Emergency Department in providing quality patient care and perform assigned duties under direction of a registered nurse.

The Paramedic aids patient care services and medical staff of the Emergency Department in providing quality patient care and perform assigned duties under direction of a registered nurse.
PATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY)
- Under the direction of the RN, performs delegated patient care, including but not limited to: insertion of IVs, insertion of IVs with Prevue, insertion of IOs,12 lead EKGs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, vital signs, crutch walking, splinting, wound irrigation, suture set up, and application of dressing.
- Able to collect, report, and document observations and patient care. Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately. Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
- Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment. Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient. Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
- Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
Emergency Department Environment:
- Participates in the hospital's Emergency Operations Plan during disaster situations. Communicates with various departments in a cooperative manner. Performs quick registration of patients. Ordering, stocking, and cleaning assigned area. Maintains specialty carts Transports patients
Patient Safety:
- Assures a safe patient care environment, demonstrates critical thinking skills and involvement in problem solving. Utilizes ENA standards as a guide to provide safe patient care. Maintains patient's needs for privacy and confidentiality during all communication. Utilizes ENA standards as a guide to provide safe patient care.
Professionalism:
- Takes initiatives in professional growth, always conducts self in an orderly and professional manner. Serves as a role model with all members of the health care team, patients, family members, and visitors. Promotes efficient functioning of the department to enhance patient satisfaction. Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Post high school vocational/specialized training.
- Paramedic certification and advanced cardiac life support certification.
- Current driver's license. CPR certification.
- Required Skills and Knowledge: Must possess good judgment, maturity, positive communication skills and ability to negotiate. Must adhere to the hospital's policies and procedures, present self in a professional manner, utilize proper channels of communication, and maintain confidentiality. Attend educational offerings to meet identified needs and attend unit/department meetings. Knowledge of cardiac arrhythmia-related symptoms, treatment of traumatic injuries, navigation by Graphic Street Guide.
