Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities
- Transports patients to and from the nursing units or other departments, using two patient identifiers, proper body mechanics and universal precautions. Communicates with patient's RN regarding patient needs, e.g. removal and application of oxygen. Maintains proper safety measures: call light within reach; side rails up per policy; apply and reapply restraints as delegated per RN.
- Obtains needed supplies and equipment for units. Facilitates the maintenance of a clean, safe, and organized environment. Maintains cleanliness of transportation equipment, e.g. wheelchairs, stretchers and other areas as directed.
- Enters appropriate information in patient flow systems. Ensures oral and written directives are effectively and efficiently completed. Interacts with internal and external customers in a respectful and courteous manner.
Qualifications
Qualifications for Patient Transport:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current driver's license.
- 1-2 years of driving experience preferred.
