The Technologist Assistant performs a variety of duties to maintain an orderly, clean, and safe environment, and to assure the efficient flow of patients through the exam room. The Technologist Assistant participates in providing culturally based, age specific care to patients and support for the registered Technologist. All direct patient care is under the direct supervision and is delegated by the registered Technologist.
Responsibilities
PATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY)
Engages in population appropriate communication.
Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately. Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms.
Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
CLINICAL:
Assists in the coordination of diagnostic examinations and care of patients.
Prepares patients for studies; assists in the explanation of procedures; moves patients to exam tables; assists in post procedure care; keeps patients families informed of the exam status; provide patient support to relieve anxiety; work with other patient units to coordinate and transport patients as necessary;
Maintains clean and orderly exam rooms; maintains and cleans equipment; maintain medical supply inventory.
Assists staff to prepares contrast administration with labels, both oral and IV contrast.
Support department workflow by using EMR and PACS. Also required to answer phone calls, process paperwork, and scheduled patients as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Education Required:
High School Diploma or GED
Years of Experience:
Must be a student currently enrolled in a Radiology Technology program
