Job Description
UC Health is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Operating Room Team 2 (Neuro, Eyes, Ears Nose Throat (ENT) and Oral Surgery ) at UC Medical Center. This is a 7a-7:30p FLEX position.
The OR is comprised of a 60/40 mix of registered nurses and surgical technicians. The nurse's main duty is as circulators; however, they do serve as scrub persons. UCMC is a level 1 trauma center. Our OR is a 25 room OR which includes a trauma room which is open 24/7, one cysto suite, a hybrid room for endoscopic hearts and a cath lab/OR for endovascular procedures. The remainder of the rooms are often high acuity patients undergoing surgery for various specialties. These rooms encompass Neurosurgery, Eyes, Ears, Oral, Spine, Orthopedic, Burns, plastic, podiatry, Transplant, vascular, GU, Robotics, General Surgery, thoracic, pulmonary, laparoscopic and gynecology.

The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. The care is culturally based and age-specific.

The Registered Nurse (RN) is an individual who holds a current state license to practice nursing. The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. The care is culturally based and age-specific.
- Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice.
- Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs.
- Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
- Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
- Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit.
- Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure.
- Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
- Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- At least 1 year of operating room experience required
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferred
- Current OH RN License
