UC Health is hiring a PRN Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for the Respiratory Therapy department for varying shift at West Chester Hospital.

The Respiratory Therapy Department registered respiratory therapist will support West Chester Hospital's respiratory therapy department and Level III Trauma Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is an individual who holds a current state license to practice respiratory therapy. Respiratory therapists' interview and examine patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. Respiratory therapists care for patients who have trouble breathing. The RRT is proficiency in pulmonary function and rehabilitation, paired with extensive experience working with respiratory equipment

  • Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice.
  • Correctly records all information in the patient legal record and maintains department records.
  • Performs and monitors patient progress and response to service. Assess patients and makes appropriate recommendations based on outcomes regarding therapeutic interventions.
  • Applies technical knowledge to consult with physician with regard to cardiopulmonary status.
  • Checks electronic Medical Record EMR) orders are current with therapy being provided. Provides a thorough, concise report and notifies co-workers of patient transfers.
  • Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely. Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
  • Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Graduate of a two- or four-year AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program with RRT credentials
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the growth and developmental needs of adolescent, adult, and older adult/geriatric client populations, the necessary clinical and technical skills to provide care for medically complex clients with chronic illnesses and physical disabilities. Assumes charge therapist responsibilities in the absence of a Lead Therapist.
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Ohio. BLS required, ACLS desired.


Hours: PRN

Shift: 12 hour PM / Night Shift
