UC Health is hiring a full-time Sonographer for the Hoxworth Women's Center.

The Sonographer will support UC Medical Center's Women's Center by delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

The role of the Sonographer is to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by producing diagnostic images of various organs and structures of the human body through the use of high frequency sound waves (ultrasound). Ultrasound is an extremely operator-dependent imaging modality and requires and advanced understanding of anatomy and vascular physiology.
  • Clearly communicates initial treatment and continuation of care to patient and family members while identifying potential physical/ psychological limitations and deploying intervention as needed.
  • Safely administers medication, performs treatments, and operates equipment as directed according to departmental rules and regulations.
  • Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with established protocols including but not limited to biopsies, and other interventional ultrasound procedures.
  • Operates complex ultrasound equipment while regulating technical factors on individual patients and reviewing studies for diagnostic acceptability.
  • Reviews for appropriateness and completeness, patient histories and requests for services while providing routine care to patients as needed.
  • Practices aseptic and sterile technique to prevent the spread of disease and administers or assists with CPR or other emergency procedures as needed.
  • Instructs students in methods and procedures.
  • Participates in continuing education activities related to the field of Diagnostic Ultrasound and its subspecialties.
  • Contributes to quality control programs and maintains appropriate records and supplies.
  • Rotates weekends and on call must be able to respond within 45 minutes for call procedures.


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Must have graduated from a certified program and acquired the accreditation of ARDMS or registry eligible.
  • One year experience - open to new graduates
  • Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. New graduates of an approved program, who are registry eligible will be given one year from hire date to complete registry.
