UC Health is hiring a full-time System Director of Trauma and Burns for UC Health.

The director will support the UC Health with delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

The System Director of UC Health's Trauma & Burn Programs is responsible for the operational management of the Trauma and Burns programs which includes acute care surgery. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: strategic planning, program design and implementation, financial and human resource management, and marketing.
  • Facilitates the strategic planning, development and implementation of all initiatives set forth for the Trauma and Burns programs and acute care surgery, while collaborating with physician partners, nursing and other patient care service providers.
  • Maintains full accountability for specific areas of responsibility. Represents the programs at the sites, system level and in the community.
  • Coordinates and integrates program services within the areas of responsibility and with other multidisciplinary departments.
  • Collaborates with physicians and government appointed personnel for all military/civilian partnerships with UC Health's Trauma and Burns programs and their related support services. Programs include but are not limited to: CSTARS, SOAR, SMART.
  • Participates in formal and informal professional meetings, speaking, publication, and research.
  • Actively serves on site and system committees that are applicable to their areas of responsibility.
  • Functions as administrator on call as assigned.
  • Assures all areas of responsibility performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner and goals are aligned with the systems operating plan(s) and the associate's professional development plans.
  • Establishes regular and effective communications with their staff, physicians, nursing leaders, ancillary staff leaders and senior executives.
  • Develops and reviews standard policies and procedures, job descriptions, and competencies as necessary for areas of responsibility.
  • Monitors satisfaction and identifies opportunities for improvement to bridge gaps in performance and associate engagement.
  • Participates in selecting targeted areas and develops action plans for quantifiable improvement in associate engagement scores.
  • Helps direct reports identify their strengths and leverage them for greater performance and contribution.
  • Provides guidance and positive models to help others develop; collaboratively creates development plans.
  • Establishes and commits to a short-term and long-term business strategy after considering clinical and financial data, resources, market drivers and organizational needs.
  • Executes strategic growth opportunities in a timely manner.
  • Develops business plans and proposals for programs/initiatives in consideration of mission and profitability.
  • Facilitates the development and monitoring of operating and capital budgets for all applicable cost centers.
  • Submits budget variance reports and assures action items relative to budget variance reports are actively followed up on.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team and hospital administration to identify regional and national benchmarks for areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborates with Managers and multidisciplinary team to develop standardized operating protocols and processes that support evidence-based practice. Actively serves on medical, hospital, and UC Health committees.
  • Balances multiple projects at the same time and able to delegate when appropriate.
  • Assures proper fiscal and grant documentation to avoid errors, incorrect payments, or resubmissions.
  • Assures accurate and timely charge capture, billing contracting with managed care and allocation procedures and systems are working effectively.
  • Works closely with payor relations in contracting.
  • Data mines for optimum reimbursement rates and potential for new or enhanced markets or revenue.
  • Coordinates and analyzes processes and CQI results and implements initiatives for improvements when identified assuring safety remains the highest priority.
  • Provides staff training for the compliance and quality initiatives for the enterprise, site and department(s) as required or necessary.
  • Responsible for preparation and maintenance of program designations and registry compliance at all applicable sites across the enterprise.
  • Maintains knowledge of local, state (i.e ODH), national policy and standards (JCAHO), and industry trends.
  • Responsible for preparation and maintenance of any government and grant regulatory tracking, compliance and reporting and assures it is completed in a timely manner.
  • Monitors satisfaction and identifies opportunities for improvement to bridge gaps in performance and customer needs.
  • Identifies targeted areas and develops action plans for quantifiable improvement in patient satisfaction scores.
  • Assures any patient relations or customer service concerns are followed up in a timely manner. Tracks trends- implements strategies to address opportunities and spread best practices.
  • Utilizes data in understanding the current market and to explore new or expanded marketing opportunities.
  • Works collaboratively with UC Health's Marketing and Communications team to create, monitor, and manages marketing and outreach activities and program inquiries.
  • Partners with appropriate community organizations to fulfill continuum of care needs.
  • Participates and shares program information in professional national forums, lobbies, associations, and agencies.


Qualifications

  • Master's degree in healthcare related field such as Nursing, Health Care Administration and/or Business Administration required.
  • OH RN License preferred.
  • Certification in critical care, emergency nursing or a trauma related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively successful management leadership experience in a clinical environment or in a successful large health care management organization required.
