Access Representative, PBO Authorizations, Full Time, First Shift

As part of the Internal Medicine Authorization Team, the Representative - Access role is responsible for following the authorization workflow. The workflow objective is to obtain insurance approval for scheduled outpatient procedures and surgery admissions ordered by the department of Internal Medicine.

Responsibilities

Epic Workqueues:

  • The Authorization Team works out of Epic Workqueues assigned by department specialty. The Representative - Access will be responsible for working authorization requests according to nearest procedure date. Appropriate documentation of steps taken to obtain authorization is required.


Internal Customer Service:

  • Answer physician office questions regarding patient's authorization status, communicate steps for an authorization denial appeal, communicate insurance eligibility issues, and other requests as assigned.


Productivity and Communication:

  • Must maintain facility established productivity standards and Authorization Quality Guidelines. Reports improvements, problems and changes as it relates to insurance verification to Department Management. Performs other duties as assigned in PBO Authorizations Department.


Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED required

Experience: 1-3 years of experience in registration, billing, customer service, or managed care organization preferred

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Analytical skills; able to problem solve.
  • Computer Literacy
  • Excellent communication, problem solving skills, and ability to deal with urgent requests.
  • Ability to interact independently to resolve authorization related issues.
