Transport Paramedic, Nights (AFSCME)

UC Health is hiring a full-time (7p-7a) transport paramedic to join our Mobile Care team!

The transport paramedic will provide care for a diverse and multi-faceted patient population. They will work to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the appropriate level of patient care according to the approved scope of practice.

Unit Details:

  • Air Care & Mobile Care has provided the Greater Cincinnati area with specialized medical transport services for patients in our community for over 35 years.
  • Air Care & Mobile Care is the only service in the region to be accredited in four levels of medical transport by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems.
  • Air Care & Mobile Care specializes in caring for and transporting critically injured and sick patients, wherever they may be, by bringing the world-class care of UC Medical Center to the patient.


Responsibilities

Patient Care

Communicate clearly with patients and families, considering cultural, developmental, and psychological needs.

Independently assess, treat, and monitor critically ill or injured patients of all ages.

Perform advanced life support interventions, medication administration, and safe equipment operation.

Recognize and respond to abuse, neglect, behavioral health, and special patient needs.

Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.

Transport & Clinical Operations

Provide safe, efficient patient transport under direction of the Program Medical Director and physicians.

Maintain competency in neurological, cardiac, pediatric, obstetric, trauma, and other emergency care.

Safely operate and secure equipment (ventilators, IV pumps, VADs, chest tubes, advanced airway devices).

Complete accurate documentation, participate in quality assurance, and support performance improvement initiatives.

Assist in the Emergency Department as needed, including patient registration, stocking, cleaning, and specialty cart management.

Safety

Adhere to all hospital, departmental, and regulatory safety standards.

Operate emergency vehicles safely, demonstrating defensive driving and compliance with regulations.

Participate in daily safety briefings and promptly report concerns.

Ensure clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times.

Professionalism & Development

Represent Air Care & Mobile Care and UC Health professionally.

Maintain all required certifications, licensures, and clinical competencies.

Engage in continuing education, clinical rotations, and professional growth opportunities.

Serve as a mentor and educator for peers, new associates, and healthcare partners.

Support program education and outreach to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Education & experience:

  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • One year of Emergency Medical Service experience as a Paramedic preferred.
  • Military medical/paramedicine experience considered.
  • Intra-facility transport experience preferred.


Licenses & Certifications:

  • Current Ohio Paramedic certification required; National Registry preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) & Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required upon hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) & Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) to be obtained within the probationary period.
  • FEMA 100, 200 courses within the initial probationary period.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or its equivalency (s) must be obtained within the probationary period.
  • Active, unrestricted Driver's License with no more than 4 accrued points.
  • Approved Trauma Life Support course
